How to claim tax back on your donation
If you donate more than five dollars, you’re eligible to receive a 33.33% tax credit through the Inland Revenue Department (IRD). You even have the option to redirect that credit back to us to help your rescue helicopters save more lives in your community.
That means your $100 donation becomes a $133 donation! It’s a simple way to boost your support and make an even bigger difference.
You can claim your donation tax credit online using the receipt we provide. If you haven’t claimed in the past, you’re still able to apply for donations made within the last four years.
To submit your receipt, you’ll need to log in to your myIR account. Don’t have one yet? Signing up is quick and easy - you’ll just need your IRD number which you can get from your bank.
A STEP BY STEP GUIDE
1. Sign up for or log in to your myIR account.
If you’re creating a new account, be sure to select the option that lets you receive donation tax credits.
If you already have a myIR account but don’t see ‘Donation tax credit’ listed on your home page, click on ‘I want to…’, choose ‘Register for donation tax credit’, complete the registration form, and submit it to the IRD.
Once the ‘Donation tax credit’ option appears on your home page, go to your donation tax credit account and select Enter donation tax credit receipts to begin claiming.

2. Add receipt details and attach proof.
Click + Add a receipt and fill in the details.
- Organisation name: Philips Search and Rescue Trust
- Organisation IRD number:
- Organisation charity number: CC26698
- Donation type: Other donee organisation
- Receipt date: Add the date that is on your receipt
- Receipt amount: Add the donation amount that is on your receipt
- Is this receipt shared with a spouse/partner: Yes or No (if you answer Yes, the IRD number of your partner must also be entered as well)
Click Add receipt attachment.
- Document description: Grassroots Trust Rescue Helicopter Donation Receipt
- File: Upload your donation receipt pdf (you can download a copy of the donation receipt as a pdf from within the receipt email)
Click OK and then click Next >.

3. Confirm details are correct before proceeding.
Double check all the information has been entered correctly.
- If everything looks correct, click on Next > again.
- If you need to fix anything, click < Previous and correct any details.
- Or you can choose to save progress and complete the submission later by clicking Save Draft.

4. Choose whether to transfer the donation tax credit.
To allocate all or part of your donation tax credit back to us, please use our standard donation process. Please do not transfer the credit directly to us when claiming your receipt.
5. Submit it for processing
That's it, now click on Submit.
