200km for march

By Tyla Schaw

I'm fundraising for The Greenlea Rescue Helicopter

What I will be doing: walking 200km (or more) for the month of March

I want to do this because

This cause is very close to my family’s heart. My grandparents have long been involved in supporting the Rescue Helicopter through organising the Greenlea Undercover Dog Trials. I’ve grown up seeing the effort, dedication and community that goes into backing a service that quite literally saves lives.

The helicopter is there on people’s worst days — in emergencies, accidents, and critical moments where time matters most. It’s something many of us hope we’ll never need, but are incredibly grateful exists.

So I thought — why not push myself and turn something I’m already doing into something that can give back?

200km in one month is a challenge for me, but it feels small compared to the impact this service has on families across our region.

If you’d like to support, donate, or simply follow along, I’d be so grateful. Every kilometre will be walked with purpose 💚

About this service: The Greenlea Rescue Helicopter is a fully-fledged air emergency medical service that services the Central Plateau & Lakes region across the Central North Island. It brings life-saving equipment and rescue personnel directly to patients, 24/7, 365 days a year, and is staffed by an amazing & experienced crew of Critical Care Flight Paramedics (CCFP), Crewmen and Pilots. Donations from fundraising go towards the operational costs, which helps ensure the rescue helicopter can continue to carry out life-saving missions, whenever and wherever needed.
